Completely redesigned for 2011, the BMW 5 Series undergoes changes to the lineup for 2012. The 528i, which previously old a 3.0-litre six-cylinder, now uses a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine that includes auto start/stop bailiwick, and is useable in rear- or all-wheel road. The 535i and 550i use the xDrive all-wheel system only, and a six-speed manual previously nonobligatory on the 528i and 535i is no soul obtainable. The M5, temporarily discontinued for 2011, returns for 2012. The Gran Turismo (GT) is unchanged. The 5 Playoff sedan is lendable as the 528i, 528i xDrive, 535i xDrive, 550i xDrive, and M5, time the Gran Turismo comes as the 535i xDrive and 550i xDrive. The 528i models use a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with automobile start/stop subject; the 535i uses a turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine with start/stop; and the 550i models use a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8. The M5 uses a higher-performance 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 and includes auto start/stop profession. The orderly sedans and GT use an eight-speed robotlike transmittal, time the M5 uses a seven-speed dual-clutch robotlike transmission.
